How \" water of crystallization \" can be set free its \' normal\' bonded?

Solution

Water of crystallization is the water that is needed to form the crystals out of an aqueous solution. Without the water the crystals wouldn\'t form. There is definite proportion between the given substance and the number of water molecules which together form the hydrated molecules of the crystals.

For example CuSO4.5H20 forms blue crystals. This 5H2O portion is the water of crystallization. This water can easily be set free by heating. When heated to certain temperature, the water gets evaporated. This happens when the cationic bonding between the salts and water molecules weakens at higher temperature, and therefore they are set free.
