34. Find the area the following shape. 6 in. 10 in.- a. 60 in.2 b. 74.1 in.2 c. 88.3 in.2 d. 44.1 in2

Solution

Shape is complete by two parts- one is rectangular and other one is semi-circular.

Now for rectangular part ---

Length = 10 in. Breath = 6 in

Area of rectangle = length × breath

Area of rectangle = 10×6 = 60 in²

And for semi-circular part ---

Diameter = 6 in

Radius (R) = diameter/2 = 6/2 = 3 in

Area of semi-circular = R²/2 = (3)²/2 = 9/2 = 14.1 in²

So total area of shape = 60+14.1 = 74.1 in².
