Customer service should extend to the point of the service features mentioned in the product or service description that was included and given to the customer during sale. A firm can, but is not obliged to, provide any service beyond what has been specified during the sale transaction (before customer paid).
For example, a warranty mentioned during a sale is to be fulfilled, but an extended warranty may not be provided without additional cost, or at most at a proportionately reduced cost. Thus, the firm need not extend service beyond a level that increases the firm\'s legal or financial obligations.
