Solution

First of all the questions what you are asking is different from the question which is given in figure, I will explain it later.. First I am trying to give you the answers of the questions what you have asked.

1. If membrane is only permeable to water then water will move from the less concentrated side (A, left) to more concentrated side (B, right) because of high osmotic pressure of water at the left side and when two solutions are seperated by a selective membrane then the movement of water/solvent will always be from the more concentration of water/solvent to the less concentration of water/solvent (from less solute to High solute concentration).

2. If membrane is permeable to water and glucose both then water will move in a different direction from the glucose. Water will move from the low conentration of glucose to high concentration of glucose and glucose will move from high concentration of glucose to low concentration of glusoce because there will be a simple diffusion which says the diffusion of molecules will occur from more concentration to less concentration and it also known as along the concentration gradient.

3. The answer of this part is already explained in second part of the answer.

Now I will explain what is being asked in the question given in the picture.

there are three different solutions which are prepared in water

A. 1 Osm Glucose

B. 2 Osm Glucose

C. 1 Osm Nacl

in this context they have asked the movemnt of water when these solutions are kept in a various combinations in a U shaped tube seperated by a selective permeable membrane.

Hopefully it will be clear to you that the movement of water with a selective membrane will always be from the low solute concentration to high solute concentration.
