Most medical professionals and scientists working with bacteria think it will be impossible to get rid of the evolution of antibiotic-resistance. But many think we could slow down this evolution. Describe two things you could do to help slow down antibiotic resistance.
Solution
Use of antibiotics should be minimised.
1. Livestock should be vaccinated and not given antibiotics. Similar should be the case with aquaculture alongwith maintenance of hygiene. This will help reduce the spread of antibiotics in the food chain and into humans.
2. When taking antibiotics, completing the full prescription is necessary. Stopping it midway promotes development of antibiotic resistant strains. Antibiotics should not be prescribed for viral infection.
