The drawing shows a portion of a larger circuit Current flow

The drawing shows a portion of a larger circuit. Current flows left to right in each resistor. What is the current in the resistor R? (Let R1 = 2.49 ?, R2 = 4.08 ?, and I1 = 2.82

A.)

Solution

becoz both R1 and R2 are in parallel so voltage accross both will be same.

so voltage accross R1 = I1*R1

v at R1 = 2.82*2.49

v at R1 = 7.0218v

so V at R2 = 7.0218

so I2 will be I2 = V at R2/R2

= 7.0218/4.08

I2 = 1.7210A

So current from R will be current from R1 + current from R2

so I = 2.82 + 1.7210

so I = 4.5410A
