Part A Determine the magnitude of F2 which will cause the reaction Cy at the bearing C to be equal to zero. The bearings are in proper alignment and exert only force reactions on the rod. Set F1 = 700 lb. Express your answer using three significant figures and include the appropriate units.

Solution

Now resolving F2 along the three axis

F2y = F2 cos 45 cos 30

F2y= F2 (0.612)

F2z= F2 sin 45 cos 30 = F2 (0.612)

F2x = F2 sin30 cos 45= F2 (0.353)

F1y = 700 cos 45

taking moments about A in y direction

F1 cos 45 * 1 + (- F2y *4 ) + Cy * 6.403 =0. (Given, Cy=0)

700 cos45 - F2 0.612* 4 + 0 = 0

F2 = 202.195 lb

Part A Determine the magnitude of F2 which will cause the reaction Cy at the bearing C to be equal to zero. The bearings are in proper alignment and exert only
