There is an office building with 91 stories. The building has a staircase which averages 22 steps for each story.
How many steps would you climb to get to the 91st story?
Once you get there, you are 1285 feet off the ground. How many floors are below you, and how tall is each floor?
How tall is each individual stair???
Thanks for help !!
Solution
Hi..
Assuming that the ground floor is is the first floor, to reach the 91st floor requires going up 90 sets of stairs.
(1) Since each story averages 22 steps, and we are going up 90 stories, we will climb (22)(90)=1980 steps..
(2) On the 91st floor, there are 90 floors beneath us, Since we are 1285 feet off of the ground, each story averages 1285 divided by 90 or approximately 14.3 feet..
(3) We traversed 1980 stairs and covered 1285 feet. Each step is 1285 divided by 1980 or approximately .65 feet or 7.8 inches...
