nd contrast contaminants using a Venn diagram. Choose Suspended Solids Compare a vs. Dissolved Solids or Organic (Volatile) vs. Inorganic (Fixed). An A answer contains at least 10 good pieces of information and at least two similarities. Use methods examples, descriptions, or any other characteristic to compare and contrast.

Solution

Total suspended solids (TSS) include all particles suspended in water which will not pass through a filter where as Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) are the total amount of mobile charged ions, including minerals, salts or metals dissolved in a given volume of water.

Both are measured in mg/l.

TSS includes only suspended particels where as TDS inclludes colloidal as well dissolved particles.

TSS can be found by placing the filter paper in oven after passing the sample where as in calculation of TDS filtrate itself is taken as sample.

Permissible limit of TDS in drinking water as per WHO is 500mg/l
