The measure of two complementary angles are in the ratio 1

The measure of two complementary angles are in the ratio 1 : 5. What are the degree measures of the two angles? What is the solution of each proportion?

A. 36° and 144°

B. 15° and 75°

C. 30° and 150°

D. 18° and 72°

Solution

Two angles are said to be complementary when their sum is 90°.Let one of the angle be x then the other one will be 5x, as they are in 1:5 ratio.

The sum of these angles =90°

So, 6x=90°

or x=90/6= 15°

So, 5x= 75°

The solution of the proportion is one angle is 15° and other is 75°.

The measure of two complementary angles are in the ratio 1 : 5. What are the degree measures of the two angles? What is the solution of each proportion? A. 36°
