Show all steps and calculation
A 50 ft diameter tank is located in a city to supply drinking water for a small community with 17 households. Based upon number of residents in each household, the average demand of these households in c f s are shown in Figure The tank is 20 ft high and is located 400 ft above the city. The tank supplies water with a constant flow of 4.5 c f s during the day. All the nodes in the network are located at 0 ft elevation. All pipes have roughness coefficient C - 100. Use Hazen-Williams formula for calculations and neglect minor losses. The lengths and diameters of all pipes are fixed and are given in Table 1. Compute flow rate and velocity in each pipe of network using Hardy crow iterative method. Abo determine the pressure head at each node. Present your your results in form of table. Use MS Excel or similar program to present your calculation results. Present all steps. of calculations.

Solution

Starting from P21 = 0.51 cfs.......ANSWER

P19 + P20 = 0.15+0.51 = 0.66 cfs

P16 = P19 + 0.71 + 0.17 = P19 + 0.88

1.77 = P18 + P16 + 0.12

P18 = 0.11 + P20

Solving these equations, we have:

P20 = 0.30 cfs.......ANSWER

P18 = 0.41 cfs.......ANSWER

P16 = 1.24 cfs.......ANSWER

P19 = 0.36 cfs.......ANSWER

P17 = 0.71 cfs.......ANSWER

P15 = 0.12 + 0.11 + 0.17 + 0.15 + 0.71 + 0.51 = 1.77 cfs.......ANSWER

P14 = 0.61cfs.......ANSWER

P12 = 0.51cfs.......ANSWER

P13 = 0.18 + 1.77 + 0.61 = 2.56cfs.......ANSWER

P1 = 4.5cfs.......ANSWER
