1). Light microscope can be used to observe the external morphology of plant cells, animal cells and bacteria (under staining). To observe the minute morphological characters, we need scanning electron microscope. By using light microscope we can observe the cytoplasm and nucleus of the cell, but not the other cellular organelles clearly such as ribosomes and mitochondria. Electron microscope is helpful to observe the internal organelles of the cell such as mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, etc. Viruses cannot be seen with compound microscope, we can see them only through the electron microscope.

Thus, at high magnification we can see nucleus and chloroplasts in case of plant cells.
