what is meant by order of magnitude analysis ??

Order of magnitude analysis is also known as Scale analysis or Dimentional analysis.

It is widely used in perticularly fluid mechanics and study of linear and non-linear dynamics and some part of the analytical model reduction techniques.

Particularly in the fluid mechanics, it is used to corelate the quantities like pressure, velocity, head loss and power output of the turbine and pumps for small scaled model. It is very important because the size of the turbine for the power point is very huge. So inorder to validate the turbine performance in the beggining of design phase, small scale models are used to get some insight of the system.

Apart from this design of pumps and turbines, it is used in design of aeroplanes as well.
