Explain what is involved in the prisoner’s Dilemma (addressing the general structure of the game as opposed to any one particular version of the game, such as the one that gives it its name.)
Solution
Prisoner\'s dilemma is a clear strategy to explain teamwork, confidence, trust and co-operation. When a person tries to be selfish and do things in the blind pursuit of self interest then the individual will lose. This is the strategy of prisoner\'s dilemma.
Let us consider a situation in which two crime accomplices are locked separately in different cells. There are three situations that might arise.
1. If both of them confess to the charges, then both will be jailed for six years.
2. If any one confesses, then the confessor will be freed but the non-confessor will be jailed for twelve years.
3. If neither of them confess, then both of them will be tried for a minor offense and will be jailed for two years.
This is a scenario where mutual trust and confidence will gain upper hand. If both of the accomplices know that their partner will not be selfish and will take the collective interest into consideration in order to safeguard the other, then neither will confess and serve two years in jail.
