When light interacts with a material it can do all of the following except for which one? A. Reflected B. Scattered C. Desorbed D. Transmitted
Solution
When a light falls on an object, the following phenomenon is observed.
i) Reflection : The incident light may reflect back from the surfaces like shiny surfaces.
In this case angle of incidence is equal to angle of reflection (i.e., only one angle is possible)
ii) Scattering : This is similar to the reflection but the reflected ray have more than one angle of reflections.
iii) Refraction : Refraction is the phenomenon in which light ray passes through the thickness of the material.
iv) Transmission :This is the phenomenon in which the refracted light rays leave the other surface and enter the surroundings.
Thus from the given options DESORBED is the correct answer. Disorbing means the release of an adsorbed substance from the surface. Since the light could not disorb any substance on which it is fallen, its not a phenomenon of light. Thus option-C is correct answer.
