A ball is kicked from the ground at an angle of 30 degree to the horizontal and lands 350 feet away 4 seconds later. Find the initial velocity of the ball to the nearest whole number.?

Solution

The ball will follow a projectile motion. The horizontal component of the velocity of the object remains unchanged throughout the motion.

Let v0 is the intial velocity, and vx is the horizontal velocity.

Then, vx = v0 Cos

The projectile\'s horizontal displacement at any time t is given by:

x = v0t Cos

i.e.

350 = v0 . 4Cos(30)

or, v0 = 350/(4 cos(30)) = 101 feet/sec (rounded nearest to whole number).

 A ball is kicked from the ground at an angle of 30 degree to the horizontal and lands 350 feet away 4 seconds later. Find the initial velocity of the ball to t
