How are transmission line losses taken into account? What are the main two loss mechanisms?

Solution

the main transmission loss is corona

it is nothing but ionization of the air near the surface of the conductor is called as concept of corona

as the operating voltage increases the field intensity is increases but the dielectric strength of air remain same which will result the ionization of air is taking place near the surface of the conductor which is known as corona

FERRANTI EFFECT; IN SHORT TRANSMISION LINE THERE IS NO SHUNT CAPACITANCE SO THAt there is ferranti effect where as in medium transmission line there will be ferranti effect due to shunt capactance . th ferranti effect more severe in long transmission line when compared to medium transmission line

ferrenti effect will be more severe in 400kv and above when compared to 220kv and below network

How are transmission line losses taken into account? What are the main two loss mechanisms?Solutionthe main transmission loss is corona it is nothing but ioniz
