Solve the triangle if one exists Round your answers to two d

Solve the triangle, if one exists. (Round your answers to two decimal places.) Solve the triangle, if one exists. (Round your answers to two decimal places.) The following diagram shows two ways to play a golf hole. One is to hit the ball down the fairway on your first shot and then hit an approach shot to the green on your second shot. A second way Is to hit directly toward the pin. Due to the water hazard, this is a more risky strategy. The distance AB is 163 yards, BC is 148 yards, and angle A is 41.0 degree. Find the distance AC from the tee directly to the pin. Assume that angle B is an obtuse angle. (Round your answer to two decimal places.)

Solution

1) C = 68.5 deg ; a = 78.5 ; c = 73.4

use sine rule :

a/sinA = c/sinC

78.5/sinA = 73.4/sin68.5

sinA = 0.995 ----> A1 = 84.3 deg ; A2 = 96.69 deg

B1 = 180 - A1 - 68.5 = 27. 2 deg ; B2 = 14.81 deg

b1/sinB1 = c/sinC

b1 =sin27.2 *73.4/sin68.2 = 36.13

b2 = sin14.81*73.4sin68.2 = 20.20
