Statistical power is the the likelihood of supporting a claim that is, at the same time, true.

It is a measure of how reliable a your conclusion in the experiment is.

For example, say you have an experiment regarding the heights of 10-year old American boys vs the heights of 10-year old-American girls.

Say, you would like to claim that 10-year old American girls are taller than 10-year old amercian boys.

The power is measures how likely it is that, when you finally conclude that girls are taller, you are correct.
