What are l2R losses and how does increasing the operational

What are l^2R losses and how does increasing the operational voltage of the system influence these losses?

Solution

i^2 R losses are nothing but the Copper losses .

Copper Losses are proportional to the square of the Current.

hence in transmission of power from generating to the Load centre

hence ,When the Operational Voltage is Step up by means of Transformer so that the Current is Stepped down simultanaueosly,by transformer Action.

Hence the Transmission Losses are reduced (i,e Copper Losses are reduced)

hence the power transfer capabilty is increased are copper losses are reduced.
