1 Compare and contrast skeletal cardiac and smooth muscles 2
Solution
1) Skeletal muscle - attached to bones and long, cylindrical straited fibres with nuclei present in them.. It is voluntary as it can be made to contract and relax..
Cardiac muscle- it forms the heart wall. It is also straited but involuntary in actions.. It is branched and consists of one single nucleus they have intercalated disc.
Smooth muscle - it is small muscle fibre.. It consists of single located nucleus. These are the involuntary ones.. Hence are smooth in nature.. Eg - blood vessels..
2) stem cells are those undifferentiated cells which have the capability to form a grow a new type or specialized type of cell or organs cells through mitosis.. !! There are 3 types of stem cells..
(a) embryonic stem cells.. They are isolated from the inner cell mass of the blastocyte..! These cell require specific signals to differentiate into a special type of cells or full organ cells.
(b) adult stem cells. They are not obtained from embryo.. They are used to grow leukemia and other blood cancer etc..!!
(c) induced pleuripotent stem cells - they are basically genetically engineered, modified to the similar of embryonic stem cells..!!
