Solution
Let us choose the city Washington D.C.
The groundwater resources in Washington DC are ok they are not so good as in 2000-2001 some amount of lead was found in the groundwater.
In 1800 water was extracted from public and private owned wells. In the year 1863 a diversion dam was made above the great falls to have a public supply , following the same path a new diversion dam at little falls was made in the year of 1959.
As the city is near the sea therefore it\'s aquifer gets charged by sea. It\'s highest water level is recorded from 5-30 ft below the ground level depending upon the observation wells and it\'s distance from sea.
Both consolidated and unconsolidated aquifers are located in the city. But only consolidated aquifers are used , they are also used only to a little extent.as most of the water is taken from the dam.
4 aquifer types are in the District of Columbia:
1) Crystalline rock aquifer in the
Piedmont, 2) Perched aquifers in the Coastal Plain, 3) surficial aquifer in the Coastal Plain, and
4) Potomac Group Aquifer in the Coastal Plain.
