In the circuit below, calculate the CURRENT in the resistor (in mA) if R1 = 29 kOhms and V1 = 55.4 V. Assume that the Zener voltage is 5v, the forward bias is 0.7v, and the saturation current is zero. Give the answer to within 5%

Here apply KVL to the circuit

V1-IR1-Vz=0

IR1=V1-Vz

I=V1-Vz/R1

given V1=55.4 volts , Vz=5 volts and R1=29 kilo ohms

then I= 55.4-5/29K

= 1.73 milli amperes

Therefore I= 1.73mA
