Describe why it is important to keep the temperature of a freshly placed concrete from exceeding too high of a temperature. What is this maximum temperature? What adverse effects could occur if the concrete temperature goes too high? 7.16

Solution

It is very important to keep freshly finished concrete to be away from high temperature. Because if the temperature of the concrete is more, the hydration of cement takes place before placing of the concrete and the concrete hardens. The workability of the concrete reduces and also the strength of the concrete reduces. Hence it is very important to keep the temperature low. The maximum allowable temperature of the concrete is 80 degree F to 95 degree F
