Assume you have the hypothesis that overweight people are overweight because they like to eat – that is, they derive more pleasure from eating than normal-weight people. Design a feasible (i.e., doable and ethical) study that would test this hypothesis. Tell me why you think this study would work, and also tell me what the weaknesses in your design are.

Hypothesis- overweight people are overweight because they like to eat – that is, they derive more pleasure from eating than normal-weight people.

To find the factors relating the hypothesis, we have to find weather pleasure relating hormones dopamine and oxytocin are producing more in overweight people or not. If those people like to eat, those hormones were more preferred to presence in high amount in blood than normal people. To design the test we have to include various aspects like as following:

Find variables: Independent, Dependent and control

Independent or Dependent [According the feasibility and choice of experiment], amount of food [or it can be dependent], timing of food, place of food, temperature, solitaire, or cumulative eating.

Control: normal weight people

The weakness of design is regarding to its complexity. To test the hypothesis need lot of factors and data. Therefore, the whole process is complex and requires much energy from experimenter.
