yes, i searched many sites and i can say that maximum 20% is acceptable and beyond that is not acceptable to any project. ofcorse in this risk and uncertain world everything has been changing for day to day. in these conditions estimating a period of 3 or 4 years for a project is more risky and there are many chances to more deviations.

but to be a professional project manager we need to consider all these and we should plan it

if the variation is as possible as less, that is good to the firm.
