The fossils which archeologists find give them a chance to study the dversity of life. Those fossils do not represent a direct ancestor of a species because evolution is not a linear chain of events. Hence it is wrong to use the term missing link. It appears to be a very complicated links of chains in a random manner. They actually represent an evolutionary dead end. We can find common ancestors r unique ancestors but not direct ancestors.
