1) What are the two differences between TTL and CMOS logic gates?
2) Why is power consumption so important? Give an example of a system where power
consumption is highly important.
3) Are TTL and CMOS packages pin-for-pin compatible? Give an example when this is not true and
how to solve that issue.
Solution
1)The two differences between TTL and CMOS logic gates are:
a.)CMOS components are more expensive than TTL components but CMOS technology is usually less expensive when compared to TTL because CMOS chips smaller and requires less regulation.
b.)CMOS dissipates less amount of power when compared to TTL.
c.) There is a chance for CMOS components to get damaged from electrostatic discharge when compared to TTL. components.
2) Power consumption is so important because power dissipation depends upon power consumptions only. Any electronic or electrical equipment works efficiently when required power is supplied to it. If power consumption is improper than the quipment will not work properly for example computer needs exact supply since the processor and memory are sensitive and require an exact supply. If power consumption is improper than also the system(computer) works properly but the mother board gets damaged. And computer start acting strangely and even produce repeated stop errors or blue screens of death. So therefore the power consumption is necessary and highly important.
3) No TTL and CMOS packages pin-for-pin are not compatible.
