I\'m doing a senior project about smart system energy with 3 major subsystems for phase 1:

1- Smart meter
2- communication
3- billing

Q: How can i design a billing system for the smart meter? what components and equipments do i need?

*Note: I did the first two subsystems, briefly by connecting a smart meter to a load and taking the readings by connecting a type of communication device called (EKM Push Communication System) to the meter with the computer to display the reading through a software. At the end, i only need your help to figure out how to do the last one (billing).

should i use an arduino to do that? should i use a JAVA for example to write the code of billing? should i use a wifi sheild with the arduino to recieve a data from the comm system that we did?

Ok you can use arduino for billing. For billing you have to write code for that (power measuring).. The code may be in C or C++ or Assembly in which you are familiar.. Yes by using Wifi shield with arduino you can communicate with your PC.. If you know about serial communication, then you can use this serial communiction also for interfacing your arduino and pc.. Main thing is coding.. first you have to write code for measuring power. After that you can communicate it with pc.
