No, I don’t think that the Whirlpool Gladiator line would have been a success without the four characteristics being present. Those four characteristics allowed the team to be innovative, creative and allowed them the freedom they need to do things like, stretch the limits of the design, and make it available to stores such as Lowes and Sears. The team members were empowered to be bold and go after it. They were essentially given a creative license to truly be entrepreneurs, to carry the entrepreneurial spirit to work with them every day. Unlike normal circumstances, with the Gladiator line, they removed the barriers that would normally confine this type of project (Prather, Ch. 2010).

I think the leadership did a masterful job with handling this project.   They dedicated the needed resources to get the project done, and they committed to those resources. Often times, an idea or creation may never come to fruition because life gets in the way. When an inventor or a designer has an idea and wants to develop that idea. He often has to do it away from work time, family time, social time and all of the other factors that life can throw at you. The leadership team allowed this this team that creative freedom without the normal distractions that many others would face. That is probably what sticks out the most to me. It seems like on this project, there wasn’t the stress about time lines, the stress over costs, and all the other factors that normally come in to play. This one seemed to pay off.
