Wireshark is basically a filter engine which helps removing the extra noise from the packet and leave with you the one which is of your interest. We could call it as network protocal analyzer and allow us to see what happening at our network at microsophic level

Uses of filters :

Display filters are used for general packet filtering when view and coloring rules come into picture. Other use is for capturing packets on which we can use display filters
