Differentiate between humoral and cell-mediated immunity. .(A paragraph or 2, for each)

Solution

Humurol immunity - it is a type of a immunity which is being carried out by the molecules likes antibodies and complement protein..!! It is called humurol response because it is found in the body fluid.. It is also called an antibody- mediated immunity..!! In this type of immunity the antibodies are produced in the body which goes an act on the antigens present in the body. The antibodies are formed by the B-cells which when they encounter an antigens in the body. That produced antibodies goes and react with that antigens and kills them.

Similarly the complement system present in the body are a part of the Innate immunity which recognize the antigens in the body and perform a biochemical pathway to kill that antigens.

It can also include some interferon which prevents the other non-infected cells from being infected by that pathogens.

CALL-MEDIATED IMMUNITY - it is a type of a immunity in which no antibodies are involved but the particular cells are itself involved in the destruction of the pathogens. These cells include like Cytotoxic T-cells, macrophages, natural killer cells etc. These cells act upon the specific antigens by recognizing the particular epitopes on the antigens and undergoes phagocytosis..

Cytotoxic T-cells have CD8+ receptors on them which able to recognize the specific antigens binds to the antigens and kills them.

Macrophages and natural killer cells kills those antigens and kills them by phagocytosis..
