The following is a bandreject filter whose transfer function has a general form of; H = s^2 + omega_o^2/s^2 + beta s + omega_o^2 Design this filter (find the values of R and L) such that it has a center frequency of 50 kHz and a quality factor of 8. Calculate the two cutoff frequencies and the filter bandwidth, all in kilohertz.

Solution

fc=1/(2pi sqrt(LC)) ==> L=0.1mH

Q= (1/R)*sqrt(L/C) ==> R=3.952 ohms

Q= fc/bandwidth ==> BW= 6.25KHz

BW= Fh-Fl and fc=sqrt(Fh*Fl)

solving above euqtions by substituting BW and fc values we get

Fh=53.22KHz

Fl=49.97Khz
