In a 2 x 2 x 3 factorial anova, there are ......

the answer is 3 independent variables and 1 dependent variable. but i dont understand how??

Solution

In ANOVA we always deal with one dependent variable. For example, in One way ANOVA , there is one independent variable and one dependent variable. In two way ANOVA, there are two independent variable and one dependent variable.

Hence in a 2 x 2 x 3 factorial ANOVA we have three independent variables first with 2 levels , second with 2 levels and third with 3 level, and like others here is also one dependent variable.

Another example in 2 x 4 x 3 factorial ANOVA we have three independent variables first with 2 levels , second with 4 levels and third with 3 level, and There is one dependent variable.
