Solution

What policies does Google have that might have an impact on the workplace?

All them, but there are three that could have more influence on the workplace, they are:

6.- You can earn money without to hurt anyone; it is about Google\'s philosophy of allow advertisement in their result pages only if they are related with the search. I think workers can feel proud of being part of a company with ethics, where users are first, where search algorithms are not arranged to put partners sites first.

9.- Suit is not necessary; they put first talent, creativity, commitment, even happiness of their employees, every ideas are important, and if they are viables, they are implemented quickly, any idea, from any employee is potentially valuable.

10.- Grandiose is not enough, they are always seeking new ways of obtain better performance pursuing extraordinary goals, that maybe are not reachable now, but in its consecution they can improve every day.

How might the company philosophy or mission affect the policies and internal environment?

Policies are coherent with their beliefs, they seek talented people, so their recruitment policies are pursuing that goal, even over the experience. They believe employees ideas are important, so they implemented quickly, to show their commitment with development of the company, all them are ways that indicate how philosophy have impacts on policies.

What do you think the Human Resources Function has to do with Google getting this award?

Human Resources\' functions should be the recruiting process first, of all these talented people that makes Google what it is. It is a very careful work, they maybe need some tools of selection, an experimented team of recruiters, evaluators, and many people to choose the right person. Additionally, to establish policies to keep and improve the organizational environment, monitoring communication channels, teams functionality among others relevant issues.

How do you think that this award affects the whole company? What are the positives? Any negatives?

Certainly is a recognition that culture have struggled to grow its founders. It is a motivator to stand firm in their beliefs, to go ahead and make every day more efforts to make Google an enabling environment for the generation of ideas and innovation focused on users.

Perhaps as a negative point could be argued that this recognition is an excuse to conform to stagnate, to neglect the control mechanisms of internal environment, but all this violates the values of Google, could happen.
