We are given -2|x| < -8 . On dividing both the sides by -2, we have (1/ -2)( -2|x| ) > (-8)/ ( -2) or, |x| > 4 Now, on removing the sign of mod, we have, either x > 4 or, x < - 4 . Thus the answer { x : x < - 4 or x > 4} is correct.
