As a general rule of thumb good beer ie IP As porters stouts

As a general rule of thumb good beer (i.e. IP As, porters, stouts) should be served at 7-10 degree C. Assume Panini Pete\'s serves their beer at 7 degree C. The temperature in the lounge area is 18 degree C and the relative humidity is 50%, will condensation form on your glass?. Now suppose Panini Pete\'s serves the same beer at a tailgate in Morgantown where the outside temperature is 10 degree C. and no moisture forms on your glass, what can you say about the relative humidity?

Solution

Answer.

1. From psychrometric chart the dew point corresponding to 18 o C and 50 % RH is 7.5 oC

Beer is served at 7 o C. Hence dew will form since serving temperature is lower than dew point.

2. Again from psychrometric chart at 10 o C DBT if dew is to form at 7 o C the RH needs to be greater than 68 %.

Hence in Morgantown at the time the beer was served the RH was more than 70 % at DBT 10 o C

As a general rule of thumb good beer (i.e. IP As, porters, stouts) should be served at 7-10 degree C. Assume Panini Pete\'s serves their beer at 7 degree C. Th
