When deflecting an electron with a magnet what does this say

When deflecting an electron with a magnet, what does this say about the nature of electrons? Explain

Solution

If the charged particles (like electrons) enter normal to the magnetic fields, the fields deflects the electron in a circular path. If the electrons enter some other angle(expect 90 degress) to the magnetic fields, the fields deflects the electrons in helical or sprial paths. In both type deflections, electrons behaves particle nature and moves in stright lines in the absence of magnetic field.

Cathode ray discharge tubes , creates focussed beam of electrons which are deflected by electric and magnetic fields. The computer screen and lcd screen both use magnetic fields to deflects electron from cathode. A thousounds of electrons from cathode enter normally to magnetic field(created in TV by electro magnet) hits the screen form a small bursts of light leave an impression of our eyes which forms an image.
