Solute potential is the magnitude by which water potential decreases when the solute is added to the solution,pressure potential is the component of water potential which represent water pressure exerted in a cell.Most of the times solute potential is negative whereas pressure potential is positive in turgid cell.Solute potential is represented by psi (subscript s) and pressure potential is represented by psi (subscript p).
