There are various types of cornea experiment implicating adverse effect of lot of things on our eyes. One such experiment on cornea gives us information about UV rays is hazardous to eye. The cornea experiments shows the harmful effect of UV rays. On taking up an experiment on cornea, it was seen that due to chronic exposure to, it can cause damage to anterior pole of our eye which may cause minor pterygium or serious photokeratitis. In one such experiment performed on rat, UV radiation was supplied in the range of 290 – 400 nm for 5 days and after the last dose of radiation, it was found that prolonged exposure to UV rays is harmful.
Cornea is the most densely nerve populated structure and are responsible for sensations of pain, touch, temperature etc and also helps in wound healing blink reflex etc. It was found through the cornea experiment that dysfunction in corneal nerve may lead to opacities and blindness. It was found that any problem or dysfunction in the corneal nerve is the reason for impaired vision.
