HSCI - Strength & Conditioning Class
Problem 1
A 33-year-old female long-distance runner typically finishes marathons in less than 3:15. She has recently moved from Nebraska (altitude less than 1,640 feet or 500 m) to Colorado (altitude above 9,843 feet or 3,000 m). What changes are likely to occur within the first three months of her move with regard to aerobic performance?

Solution
The female has moved from a place of lower altitude to a higher altritude which means oxygen will be less accessible at the higher altitudes. This will make it tough for the runner to complete the race in 3:15 as she will be out of oxygen and due to which her aerobic performance will suffer. She needs to practise more in this new altitude and this is how things will change with change in place.
