How do you feel hospitals are being affected by the changes implemented under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)? As a hospital CEO, which kinds of strategic management should you be doing right now to prepare for PPACA phase-in over the years ahead?

The act came into law on March 23rd 2010 but the actual implementation started from 2014. The main aim of this act is to provide better clinical facilities at lower cost. but the act gained most critic due to some of its disadvantages. Coming to the effect of this Act on hospitals it got mixed reviews.

It is true that the Act had major impact on hospitals by increasing patient revenues, demanding care Andlower uncompensated care costs for uninsured. On the whole hospitals in medicaid expansion states saw increased medicaid revenue, decreased cost of care fir the poor. The hospitals in non expansion states experienced small increase in medicaid discharges , growth in cost of care for poor.

As CEO of hospital i would like to focus on the quality of care that should be provided with less cost. I will take steps to control health issues by providing preventive health measures. Post discharge cases sholud be clisely monitored. Assessment progrmmes need to be held to make strategic plans and implement accordingly.
