Find the zeroes of the polynomial function fx x 4 3x 1 an

Find the zeroes of the polynomial function f(x) = (x + 4) 3(x – 1), and state the multiplicity of each. Does the graph cross or touch the x-axis at the zero?

Solution

f(x) = (x + 4)^3(x – 1)

zeros are x+4= 0 ---> x=-4 multiplicty 3

x-1 =0 ----> x=1 multiplicity 1

Since we have both zeros of odd multiplicty so, graph crosses the x axis at these two zeros.
