Consider the relationship between the total weight of a ship
Consider the relationship between the total weight of a shipment of 50-pound bags of flour and the number of bags in the shipment. Data are given in flour.sav.
1. The very first shipment is of 100 50-pound bags, but its weight is not exactly 100 ´ 50 = 5,000. In fact, there is no case where the total shipment weight is 50 ´ number of bags. How can this be?
2. Plot weight against number of bags and comment on the relationship. (5 points)
3. Regress weight on number of bags, and state the equation you would use to estimate the weight from the number of bags. (5 points)
4. Are these data consistent with the hypothesis that if there are no bags in the shipment, the weight of the shipment should be zero? Support your answer statistically. (5 points)
5. Fit an equation that forces the intercept to be zero by deselecting the option to Include constant in the equation found under Options. State the equation you would use to predict shipment weight from number of bags in the shipment.
6. To plot the equation in part 5, double-click the scatter plot to open it in the Chart Editor. Under Options, select Reference Line from Equation. (There is also a button that does this.) In the window that opens, choose the Reference Line tab. Fill in the intercept and the slope of the line that you fitted in part 5. Show this graph. (For comparison, you might also plot the line that includes a nonzero intercept.)

1) THE CASE WHEN THE WEIGHT IS NOT EQUAL TO THE 5000 POUNDS AS THERE CAN BE WEAR AND TEAR OF THE BAGS DURING THE SHIPMENT.
ALSO THERE CAN BE SOME LEAKAGE DUE TO WHICH SOME AMOUNT GOT LOST DURING THE PROCESS OF SHIPMENT.
ALSO THERE CAN BE A CASE OF MIS PROPORTION AND MISREPRESENTATION.
