Squareroot c Squareroot c 5 1 Find CSolutionsqrt c sqrtc

Squareroot c + Squareroot c - 5 = 1 Find C?

Solution

sqrt c + sqrt(c-5)=1

squaring both sides

(sqrt c + sqrt(c-5))2=1

c + c-5 + 2sqrt(c(c-5))=1

sqrt(c(c-5))= 3-c

squaring both sides

c(c-5)= 9+c2-6c

c2-5c=9+c2-6c

c=9

If we plug c=9 in original equation we get

sqrt 9 + sqrt(9-5)=3 +2=5 which is not equal toright side.

In this case there is no solution
