Explain the five 5 steps for solving rational equations Can
Explain the five (5) steps for solving rational equations. •Can any of these steps be eliminated? •Can the order of these steps be changed? •Would you add any steps to make rational equations easier to complete or understand?
Solution
Following steps are used to solve rational equations:
1) Find the least common denominator of all the fractions in the equation.
2) Multiply each term with the least common denominator so the fractions can be elimnated.
3) Then do simplification.
4) solve the equation( now not rational) find in 3rd step.
5) substitute the answer obtained in 4th step in rational function to insure function should not become undefined.
NO, we can eliminate any step.
NO, order also can not be changed.
NO, need to add any more step these steps are sufficient.
