Booklets - Small booklets can be made by folding a single sheet of paper several times and then cutting and stapling. I would like to number the pages before making the folds. Can you tell me how to go about it? Cube Painting - How many different cubes can be made such that each face has a single line joining the mid-points of a pair of opposite edges? Same question for a diagonal stripe.
Solution
One fold of paper doubles the existing number of folded papers, therefore, we have the following pattern of number of folding versus number of pages:
4 = 22
Thus, after making n folds we will produce 2n pages,
| Number of folds | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| Number of pages | 2 = 21 | 4 = 22 | 8 = 23 | 16 = 24 | 32 = 25 |
