Two urns contain white balls and yellow balls The first urn

Two urns contain white balls and yellow balls. The first urn contains 3 white balls and 6 yellow balls and the second urn contains 3 white balls and 8 yellow balls. A ball is drawn at random from each urn. What is the probability that both balls are white?

230

Solution

Hi,

Lets construct a frequency table

Urn1 white - 3

yellow - 6

Urn2 white - 3

Yellow - 8

Probability frequency for white colour P(E) = Frequency of white colour / Frequency of total colours

= (3+3)/ (3+6+3+8) = 6/30 = 3/ 10

So, the probability of picking white colour from two Urns is 3/10
