Assume you have a data set from a normally distributed random variable. Answer the following questions about it.
A. Will the random variable be discrete, continuous, or neither? How do you know?
B. Will the data be qualitative or Quantitative? How do you know?
Solution
a) Normal distribution is for continuous random variable, so this should most likely be continous (unless this is a case of approximation from discrete distribution, like binomial)
b) The data has to be quantitative. Qualitative data has no number associated, it only has cateogries, and normal distribution only applies to quantitative values.
