Chicken is eaten at a temp. of 100 degrees F. It\'s taken off the grill at 145 degrees F. It cools at a rate of 3.5 percent per min.
Figure out the exponential growth/decay formula for this problem.
Solution
T = Toe^(-kt) exponential decay formula
where To is the temp at which chicken is taken off the grill
k= rate of temp decay with time
k = 0.035
So, T(t) = 145e^(-0.035t)
Time taken to reach 100 deg
100 = 145e^(-0.035*t)
taking ln on both sides:
ln(100/145) = -0.035*t
t = 10.61 minutes
